The Sacrifice of Isaac

We all are familiar with the story of the sacrifice of Isaac, but have you ever considered that is was a preview of what Jesus was going to do?

Abraham had been promised that the Messiah would come through Isaac. So how was this to happen if Isaac was to die. Only through resurrection, Abraham must have believed that God would resurrect Isaac. If we read Hebrews 11:17-19 we see that this is what he believed.

After Abraham had Isaac on the alter he looked up and saw a ram (Genesis 22:13). In John1:29 John The Baptist said Look, the Lamb of God.

Isaac was a grown man at this time. He could have overpowered his father and fled, but he was obedient. Many years later Jesus was obedient and died as our Sacrifice. Isaac also carried his the wood for the alter, Jesus carried His wooden Cross. Isaac also said not a word, just as Our Lord didn't.

The days that are involved are also important. It was 3 days after Abraham was told to sacrifice Isaac until The time on the alter, when God returned Isaac to his father. In Abraham's eyes this was the same as a resurrection of his son. Hebrews chapter 11 says in one translation that Abraham "figuratively speaking' did receive Isaac back from the death. 2000 years Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. God also received back his Son on the third day.

I Pray that this helps any reader understand the importance of the story of Isaac sacrifice. It is not just a story of obedience but a prophecy of The death of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus.

May the Lord bless each of you.

Leviticus 23:22

In Leviticus 23 We are told of the days that Israel was to set aside as Holy days. There was 7 of them, 4 in the Spring, 3 in the fall. This gap is very important to us as I will discuss later in this blog.

The first 4 have been fulfilled by Jesus when He was here on Earth. These are The Passover, The Feast of Unleavened Breath, The Sheaf of Firstfruits, and The Feast of Pentecost (The Feast of Weeks). These are discussed in the first 21 verses.

The remaining 3 are The Feast of Trumpets, The Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. These are discussed in Verses 223 thru 43.

What I wish to talk about today is in verse 22. If you read this verse it seems to be out of place, but if it was not for this verse we would not have had The Book of Ruth. This single verse tells us that we are to share God's bounty with every one. The people of Israel were to leave some of their crops in the field to help the poor. Because of this verse the a hated moabitess, a gentile, became an ancestor of Our Lord Jesus. She is the third female gentile in His linage. It is through this that we as gentiles are to receive the promise of God to Abraham.

This verse also has the importants that we, today are living in the period that is between the Spring and Fall feast. This a period of Harvest. We are to harvest the souls of the lost. This time started when our Lord acsented into Heaven and will end only at His return at The Feast of Trumpets. I pray that the harvest will be great.

Today as the world seems to be full of hate, sin, strife, war, and just plain meanest we need to look to The Lord for an answer as to why this is happening. The Bible teaches that as we near the end times that this would all happen. Daniel had a lot to say about this as well as Revelations.

I believe we are getting very close to that time. I know that there is different views on the rapture of the church and I will not discuss them today. I will just say I believe that the bible teaches that there will be a calling away of his Saints. What a great day that will be. I have heard a song that tells of UFO's on that day. Simply put it says that those that remain will see a lot of UFO's as The Lord takes us away. I know I will be one of those UFO's, and I pray that anyone reading this will also be one of them.

The Lord has promised to return in a like manner as He departed. I am looking forward to that day. We as Saints of God can be assured that we will forever be with Him after that day. I have heard people say that is their hope, I say it is a knowledge. We will spend eternity with our Lord.

I love The Lord

I love The Lord. Today has been a day of test I have been having trouble getting online. The enemy is always trying to stop us from duing want The Lord has planned for us and today he has been attacking me all day. But he lost. Greater is He that is in me than is in the world, Praise God.

I am trying to understand what The Lord has planned for me in writing these blogs. I already teach a bible study in a nursing home but I feel that The Lord has something more for me to say.

Tomorrow I will have a lot more time and can write more of what I feel the Lord has laid on my heart to say.
For today may the Lord bless each of you.

My Mother

Yesterday I had to do one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. My mother fell and broke her hip on the March 14. Yesterday I had to leave her in a nursing home in Kansas and return to Indiana.

When you leave someone you love that much it is very emotional. My sister lives near and will be checking on her, but the pain of leaving was all most to much to take. As I drove home I started to ask The Lord why I had to leave. I am retired, I don't have to work.

He does talk to us, and He did as I drove along. I didn't get the answer I was looking for but He did talk to me. As for why he just said He will tell me when it is time, His time, not mine. I was suppose to go back to Indiana, yesterday.
I ask one thing from Him and that was to me able to see my mother again on this side of Heaven. To my surprise He told me I would and that she would have many years left. Of course since she is 85, I said a few years, but God said no, I said many years.

I must trust that He has a purpose for me here in Indiana, at least for now. I will obey even though it hurts to be this far away. I know that he will strengthen me in this. I know my saviour will never leave me. He has promised us that. Each day I will seek to walk in the full gospel of our Lord Jesus. Only through His great love can we continue through this life.

I know that my Mother will go to Heaven and join my Father who died in 1976 when she passes but as a human we still want them here with us. I praise the Lord that my mother and father have been saved and will both reach Heaven where we will have a wonderful Reunion.

Christ's suffering

This weekend we as Christian celebrate the death, burial, and rising of Our Lord and Saviour. We should try to understand what Jesus suffered during this time. He knew in advance the horror he was about to undergo.

For anyone who has a beard try to imagine having some one grab your beard and just pull it until it rips from your face. They pulled his beard from his face in large hunks, his beard did not just pull from his hair follicles but riped his skin from his face.

He was also whipped. The Romans would tie knots in rawhide and add different cutting devices in it and the person receiving the whipping being tied to a pole and beat. They would hit in a way that they could rip the device back to inflict the most pain and deepest cutting.

We all know of the crown of thorns, but just think of how much it hurts to get a small rose thorn in a finger. His Crown was made of thorns that were an inch in length and pushed on His head.

The Bible also says that the pummeled him. The Romans used their fist to beat Him.

All of this happened before he was taken to the cross. Think of how much it hurts to get a small steel splinter in your finger. Then try to imagine The pain of a nail. The nails were also driven into his hands. That meant that there was the added pain of a hammer being hit on the nail head.

The love that our Lord had for us is what kept him there to endure all of this. We all hear what he suffered but I don't think that we actually think of what he really suffered. I know that most of us would die long before we we got to the cross, but that is where He had to go, The Old Testament said that was where He had to die.

Our Lord and Saviour suffered for us, we could not do this. He was the only perfect one. He suffered for us, so that we do not have to suffer but have enternal life. I will praise Him forever for this. Praise The Lord

The Lord Bless You

Hello, May the Lord bless you. This is my first blog and I will just say a few words. I believe that the Lord left us with the responsibility to spread the Word of God. I pray that as I write this blog that the Lord will use it as a tool to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
